Writing Connexions

Adventures with Words

Who Am I?

Rob FisherAlthough I sometimes go by the nickname “Dr. Evil” (it’s a long story!), the more acceptable version is probably “versatile professional”! I am a writer, book coach and editor. I am also a reviewer, philosopher, radio show collaborator, global research and meetings organiser, founder of a publishing house, thesis supervisor, and external examiner for several international universities.

I am a freelance writer. I edit monographs, multi-author collections, novels, autobiographies and all forms of creative writing. I help with book proposals, plot and narrative overviews, copyediting, and proofreading—in fact, all aspects of the various writing processes from beginning to conclusion.

I am also the originator of, and currently the Commissioning Editor and Series Editor for, two academic publishing houses – Brill/Rodopi and Emerald.

The series with Brill is called At the Interface/Probing the Boundaries. It encourages cutting-edge, interdisciplinary writing. By bringing people together from differing contexts, disciplines, professions, and vocations, the aim is to engage in innovative conversations that are imaginative and interactive.

The series with Emerald is called Emerald Interdisciplinary Connexions. It aims to develop creative research into interdisciplinary thinking and living. Books in the series try to create new types of writing by asking authors to engage and respond to each other within and across each chapter and each book.

Inter/Connexions is a publishing house I founded to help encourage different kinds of publishing to suit each book’s content and style of writing. To date, it has published over 300 titles and two journals.

In my former life, I was Head of Philosophy and Course Leader for Theology at Westminster College, Oxford. I walked away from formal academia to concentrate on developing new possibilities for interdisciplinary publishing and creative writing. A former Fellow of Harris Manchester College in Oxford, I was a CEO of several companies and have spent over 20 years building 70 global interdisciplinary research projects and successfully gaining accreditation from the British Accreditation Council.

I am always here for advice, suggestions, feedback, and help; all you need to do is drop me a line. Let’s see where the journey may take us!
