Writing Connexions

Adventures with Words

Who Am I?

Rob FisherMy unconventional and often humorous approach to writing and publishing sometimes earns me the playful nickname ‘Dr. Evil’ – a testament to my relentless pursuit of clarity, accessibility and my knack for finding hidden angles! At heart, I am a fellow traveller on your storytelling journey, a collaborator dedicated to helping writers uncover their most compelling stories, ensuring their accessibility to wider audiences, and creating genuine resonance with readers.

More than just a writer, book coach, and editor, I am a ‘connexionist’ – building bridges between ideas, disciplines, and writers and their readers. My journey into this began not just at a desk, but from a deliberate step away from formal academia, where I served as Head of Philosophy and Course Leader for Theology at Oxford. My goal was to concentrate entirely on cultivating new possibilities in interdisciplinary publishing and creative writing – a passion born from seeing the potential for ideas to connect in unconventional and highly creative ways.

What does this mean for you? My unique path, spanning rigorous academic research, hands-on publishing (having founded and edited series with Brill/Rodopi, Emerald, and my own press, Inter/Connexions, which has published over 300 titles), and diverse writing projects, equips me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities you face. Whether you’re crafting a complex academic text, a compelling novel, or a personal autobiography, I bring critical insight, strategic industry knowledge, and a deep understanding of narrative structure to help you achieve your writing goals.

I’m always here for advice, suggestions, feedback, and help; simply drop me a line. Let’s see where the journey may take us!”
